I am awaiting my first chicks. I ordered them from Meyer Hatchery with a hatch date of 11/30. I got a notification from USPS that delivery will be later than expected (Dec 4th). Is it ok to start panicking now? I'm surprised considering I live near a big USPS Hub (Oakland, CA). Has anyone had chicks shipped recently?

No, don't panic.

The Post Office is predicting later delivery dates on everything, but chicks have been mostly arriving when they should (without delays.)

Not guaranteed to come in quickly, but very likely to. So no panicking yet :)

They should be fine. The reason you got the delay notification is that Nov 27 officially starts to Christmas mailing season and the USPS gets HAMMERED Friday through Monday. And yes, do go get your chicks when you get the call to pick them up, them babies need some TLC.

The poultry is getting delivered timely, as I get to listen to roosters everyday waiting to be sent out in our distribution center.

Make sure you go to pick them up right when they arrive! Send us pics!
I'm off this whole week from work so I can drop everything and pick them up! Their future coop is also almost complete. I have all their food and brooder things ready to go.

MY BODY IS READY FOR THE CUTE.
