Well it just got better,
Went to check Goldie again and she did a little turn followed by an explosion and the unmistakable pong of rotted egg. Gently lifted Goldie to remove the mess and there were at least three chicks of which two were already nicely fluffed out. One looked like a little Gold Brahma boy chick. Goldie quickly sat back down and clucked on contentedly (She is SUCH a laid back hen).
So she has managed to hatch outside during heavy rain with no nest under her and no pen over her. I do have a nice little pen and run ready for her now once she has finished hatching.
As soon as the little guys are peeping out a bit more I will take some pics.
