Sorry you had to get rid of him. I hope i dont have to because people dont want cockerels anyways so no one will want an agressive one, so i would have to get someone to dispose of him which i really dont want to do! Hope he calms down. Its just so sad after having him from a chick :/
It was very sad. I raised him from a chick too. I just couldn't have him attacking my little dog and my 3 year old.

My cockerel, Roan, has been hand raised since four days old, along with 8 hens. He's a New Hampshire Red. I constantly picked them up and loved on them, especially him. He is 27 weeks old now, and I can tell that he's going through the "raging hormone" phase, even though I pick him up an cuddle him quite often. He started getting defensive with me a few weeks ago when I scrubbed my hens affectionately under the wings and they'd make happy hen noises. He doesn't attack when I walk in to the coop, and only when I ruffle one of his girls. He, himself, likes to be cuddled, having his face or under his wings rubbed, and lays his head on my shoulder.

When he charges, I bump him on the chest with the back of my hand, yell at him, and stare him down. If he does it again, I grab him up, hold him down in the mud until he stops kicking and he submits. When I let go, he stays in that position, staring at me for a minute before he gets up. Now, most of the time, he'll run up to me when I have a hen, I yell "stop" loudly, and point my finger at him, and he backs down. He's figuring it out. I refuse to be bossed by him, or be intimidated. So far, so good.

I realised that i have been doing something wrong, after he attacked me i always started walking around him instead of making him move....

Sorry I am one of those kill a mean rooster people. My roo came at me one time. a hen was running from him as she did not want his attention and she ran to me and hid behind me...the roo came up and I put my foot out as if to say "no leave her alone" and he decided it would be a good idea to attempt to flog me. He met my foot at full force and the blow slammed him into the fence. He has not ever stepped out of line again....I really like him and he is a great rooster. However if I ever felt I had to watch my back or worry about my kids I would kill him myself. One second chance is all he gets.
Edited to add: You need to be careful keeping a bunch of roos unless they are penned separately. Unless you have 10 or more hens to go around for each roo the hens will be miserable. The competition for mating is really hard on the hens, the mating is done carelessly and in a hurry to get it done before the top roo finds out. On a different thread a woman had 3 roos and and 4 hens and her hens were all slashed and cut up under their wings because of the haphazard mating taking place....I wouldn't want my hens to have to deal with that.

I want to just give mine one massive kick taht hurts him and makes him terrfied, im not bothered if he dosent come near me again i just dont want to cause him to have a injury.

True but I would rather it be him, than me or especially one of my kids. My reaction was more of reflex...I did it without thinking about it. It worked for me but I think it does depend on the rooster. I have heard some roos get more aggressive if met with aggression. I simply refuse to tiptoe around my yard and coop to avoid the rooster so for me if he cant be respectful and mind his manners, he would meet the axe.

Well today he stood in the middle of the path i was walking on so i just walked into him and he moved, then he stayed out my way after that :)
