Any advice for gasping for air in ducks!

I feel like a nebulizer would be helpful in a situation like this to help get the drugs into the lungs.

Here is some information about it.

@KaleIAm made one out of a plastic bin. I don't remember what KalelAm was treating for.

It might be worth asking your vet about.
I was treating for aspergillosis. It really helped ease symptoms a lot.

It is important to put nothing in the bin but the duck, though. As any towel/substrate/ECT can absorb medications and make the treatment less effective.

This is my welsh harlequin, Gingersnap, who had aspergillosis.

You can hear her making an odd hiccup/cough noise. She started doing that when she first got sick and it got worse until she was doing it very frequently and open mouth breathing. She also would shake her head, and eventually it got so bad she would shake so hard she would fall over. Her breathing condition was worse with physical exertion.

The nebulizer treatment contained an antifungal (amphotericin B) and sterile saline with an antibiotic in it. For my duck, this only gave relief from symptoms and prolonged her life. We couldn't cure her condition. Her necropsy confirmed aspergillosis.

I'm very sorry you and your sweetheart are going through this. My heart is with you.

Thank you everyone for the advice and positive thoughts. She's still with me today, but in the same condition. I have Oxine AH coming tomorrow, and a tri jet fogger coming Friday. I thought it was worth a shot. The steam doesn't seem to help, but I'll continue that as well with the VetRX. I can only stay hopeful at this point that something kicks in. I love her with all of my heart, and would give anything to take her pain away. She still wants to fight, as she tried to eat this morning. Unfortunately it throws her into a coughing fit when she does and has to lay back down to catch her breath. This is definitely a mother's worst nightmare. Please keep sending positive healing energy her way 💗

When I use Oxine ah on my birds I just mist over their heads and it gently falls onto their faces. Of course I haven't been treating for asper either. Don't use the citric acid with the Oxine for treating your duck.

Thank you. That's the same article I found online that made me buy it. I can only hope that I have the same outcome as they did. I wish it would deliver faster though. It's a bummer I couldn't find anywhere it could be bought in-store.

Another thought I had, but didn't want to stress her out, was to bring her inside and keep her in my bathroom. That would take her away from her sister and fresh air though. On the other hand it'll be a more controlled environment, and easier to nebulize her with Oxine. And she wouldn't need to try and walk around to get her into a coughing fit. Any thoughts?
