Hello! I have 2 domesticated ducks, One american pekin duck and a mallard duck,

My dad said that we’d release them into the wild when it would get more warm ( at our local park, Small pond in contact with wild ducks )

i keep telling him that they would not be able to survive the wild and that they will die but he just won’t listen, And even if i tried telling him he’d try reasoning with me saying that we’d visit them everyday and feed with food

I don’t want to argue with him, What do i do i’m really scared and i don’t want them to die !!!:(

You are correct. They would not survive the in the wild. Domestic ducks can not fly and would be likely killed by another animal or human. If not that, they would starve because they do not know how to find their own food. There is a buy/sell/trade on here where you could list your ducks in your area. Even though they are ducks, they are domestic ducks so releasing them is equivalent to dumping dogs and cats in the streets and hoping they can fend for themselves because their ancestors were wild. I'm sorry you have to get rid of your ducks! :( I hope you can find someone to take them for you!

It’s illegal to release domesticated ducks into the wild here. Not sure exactly where you’re located, but I would assume it’s illegal there too.
