Any artists out there?

Been awhile since I've seen this thread. I stopped getting notifications from here.
Anyway, I've been working on a long project for a Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer comic.

In my comic : After Rudolph runs away, he comes across many different reindeer herds and ends up joining one that teach him how to be a wild reindeer and such.
Santa's reindeer, being magical reindeer, age very slowly to the point of many thinking they are immortal as they've been around for so long. On average in real life, they can live up to 15 some have been known to live up to 20.
Rudolph's sweetheart Clarice(1964 ver.)/ Zoey(1998 ver.) will not show up in the comic until chapter 3 as the comic will mostly focus on Rudolph.

I'm very excited for when I can start posting it!

I'm an artist and graphic designer and constantly paint, art journal, do hand lettering, mixed media, etc. For many years I authored a well-known watercolor website with tutorials, reviews, etc. Got really burned out and nearly quit painting, so now I just do my own thing while working for an amazing artist paint company here in the USA.

I mainly paint in sketchbooks and small format. I love art journaling and nature sketching, but loose landscapes are also a favorite. I don't have any recent artwork scanned in, but I'll share a couple of things. Nothing special but just examples of the doodling that I do. :)

Welcome! These are lovely! I love the colors of the clouds and the bright red barn!

These are lovely! I love the use of fruits and flowers!! They're very realistic and I love how you do the feather details!
Thanks! I'm slowly figuring out how to use that drawing program the best way for me. I can definitely see ways I improved in the second one.
I've never been good at background but because I mostly draw animals I find flowers (and/or plants) almost always fit, totally can't notice that in your pfp 😅

I love these! The composition and colors of the second one especially is very pleasing.

Beautiful work! Watercolor pieces done well like you have done are so calming to look at.

I heard an artist once say that if he's enjoying himself while making a piece, he's doing something wrong because his best work is produced when he's not enjoying himself.
I wish I could say this isn't true for me but unfortunately it is. Sketches I enjoy making usually have wonky anatomy because I was just doodling for fun.
90% of a watercolor masterpiece is spent thinking I did something totally wrong and it looks ugly and the last 10% is being pleasantly surprised because it actually worked out.
It took me weeks to paint one piece because I didn't want to spend the hours I knew it would take to finish it. And get out my paint supplies.
I would do like a layer a day then got busy and took like two weeks off, then spent almost seven hours today to finish it
I'll see if I can get some pictures later.

Yeah maybe I should stop painting, lol 😂
Or rather, not attempt something so ambitious
But the results make me happy and that's enough for me
I think sketching and colored pencils are more in my comfort zone but I think you have to get uncomfortable to grow.
