Any artists out there?

I also did it without the the skirt thing, because something went weird there. :D

Was having some trouble settling down to sleep last night so I poured this about 1 AM. Red/Yellow/Blue with some black and white spacers between them.

(EDIT: Does anyone see a dragon and a sorceress in this? Or perhaps a seahorse?)

I see a seahorse. You should plant glass gem corn. It’s such a surprise just like a pour painting. Every cob is different and so colorful! Opening them is like Christmas!

I tried gem corn, it was "meh". AZ is kinda hard for corn, Too hot and not enough water, even with drip irrigation in the garden. Melons and squash do great thoguh.

Don't ever judge your own ability by someone else's work. Look at where you've come from to where you are now and see the improvement. We all are on differnt paths and at different places on those paths, so it's not fair to yourself to compare your work to someone else's. Draw inspiration from it instead.
Couldn't have said it better myself! :bow
wOW- my confidence in my own drawing and crosshatching skills just completely disintegrated in front of my eyes... those are so gloriously glorious I cant even-
thanks! Very kind of you :)

I have a few threads on BYC that show some of my old artwork...if anyone wants to look at them for motivation, they can. NGL, I cringe so bad when looking through them, but it definitely would've helped motivate me (when I was first starting to draw) to see old art from people. Helps to show that everyone starts somewhere. I firmly believe that no skill is a skill without practice. If you didn't have to practice for it, then it would truly be just talent! Don't be discouraged or ashamed if you need to practice more than others, cause one day you'll look back and see it marked with pride.

Also, I hope you understand that there's a very fine line between confidence and motivation. Both are fed by internal and external confirmations (i.e results, reactions, rewards). The first type of confirmation is a result. Results take time, so naturally, confidence takes time too. I have no doubt that one day you'll tell yourself what you've just told me (that your art is SO gloriously glorious! Which it is!). But for now, I don't mind taking on the role of a "reaction". Just looked through some of your art and can't believe you're so rather humble!!
THIS^^^ is amazing!! And I mean it! As an artist, I admire your skill in colors. I can hardly look at any color (other than black or blue😌) without feeling weak in the knees. 😂

As you can see, reactions can come from external environments, but they can be internal too. I react to you, you react to me, it's a necessity of life. A quote that I hold dearly to my heart says, "If you don't live by the praise of men, you won't die of their criticism"- Bill Johnson. The only problem with reactions coming from others is that you can't control it. People can say all they want (which they will), but they can't take what is self-harbored. The art community often consists of a lot of snotty, overly prideful, and rude people (as is true for the world as a whole). What's gonna keep you going has to be yourself.

That brings me to the last type of confirmation-a reward. Rewards can be physical, of course, but often, they are mental. For instance, each time I finish an art piece that I've just poured my heart and soul into, it satisfies a hunger. And every time this hunger is satisfied, I feel just a bit more motivated and confident. Think of art like food, your mind a person, and your eagerness to grow as hunger. Just like how confidence is a type of motivation, reactions and results are types of rewards. And all that is the cycle that drives every part of life.

Definitely went overboard there lol. Hope I don't come across as bossy and/or confusing. I certainly don't mean it in that way. Sometimes I just get a little too into my thoughts and pour them out all at once. Frick, I still have homework to do too...Well, anyway, thank you all for the lovely comments. The blue jay is for an art prompt I'm following.
