Lovely!I shouldn't have been lazy about the stars but ehhhI like how this came out :>
Kipp!!The kind of 'art' I've actually been up to lately.
Hal didnāt answer right away, his eyes darting to a splatter of rain that sprinkled tiny droplets onto the back of Kippās hand. Strangely alert to it, like it mattered, like it wasnāt just rain that was falling.
āHere it comes,ā Hal said, lighting up with anticipation. Rumbling thunder drowned out his voice, and Kipp looked up at the sky following Halās gaze. He could hear Hal start to laugh but it was lost in the roar of millions of raindrops hitting the ground all at once. Kippās whole body tensed and he gasped, shocked by the sudden soaking. His feathers raised as goosebumps spread across his arms and wings.
The air felt too thick to breathe in, not from the rain but something else. Something heād never felt before, it was like the air itself was as heavy as if heād been buried in dirt. It was hard to breathe in, but only for a moment, and in that moment he looked up at the sky, his heart struggling to beat, and that was when the sky ripped open, lightning arcing across the sky and thunder roaring in time with it.
Then the pressure was gone leaving a wondrously empty feeling like a lull between two waves in the ocean, and a euphoria that burst in his chest. It could have been fear, it could have been the thrill of being alive. Heād never been that close to lightning before. He sat dazed for a moment in the torrent of rain just staring at the sky with water blurring his vision and sticking his hair to his face. His heart pounded excitedly waiting for it to happen again.
Hal seemed to be having the same experience. He was clutching the front of his shirt with one hand and had his other hand laced through the ropes of the hammock which seemed to be the only thing keeping him upright while he grinned into the storm with his eyes closed.
Thank youLovely!
Kipp!!
