Any artists out there?

This is more simplified than most of the pieces I make but I feel like it still has that seem feel all of my human artwork hasView attachment 4042325
I'm not sure what it is but my human artwork just tends to have a specific style to it (maybe someone else can tell me what it is) but my chickens not so much?
I think that's because I haven't been exposed to enough chicken art so I wouldn't know what makes my art different.
I suspect it might be that you are using a reference photo for your chickens and maybe not for humans? I find when i use a ref for humans my art looks very different.

Art Challenge: this is a chicken site so everyone post some art of chickens in your unique style! And if you haven't drawn chickens before, draw one now! It doesn't have to be "good."
My lastest one is still in progress... as you know 🤣

Yeah, the watercolor (or gouache) pans are difficult to make opaque. Wetting it and letting it dry a little before using it helps some. But I recommend getting a good white gouache or acrylic in the tube. I use Golden Fluid acrylics (fluid is better for small marks than heavy body), M. Graham gouache, and Holbein acrylic gouache (which is just opaque matte acrylics). All the budget brands are less opaque because they contain less pigment.
Mine is in the tube but squirt it into the pan and let it dry out
Are you supposed to apply it straight from the bottle
Mmm ok so try a different brand then

Oh, sorry, I assumed you were using ready-made pans. Yes, you can use gouache straight from the tube if you need more pigment.

I think it might be line confidence maybe...
Because here I tried copying a photo exactly and it lacks precision. Ignore the fact that I blended it to death and look at the main lines

but there are a couple of pieces with very sharp lines

And looking back, my chickens used to tend to have more lines and thicker lines.
