Well, I appreciate the compliment, but this is a completely different canvas.

Oh, I thought it was a different one but I was seeing the tree and mountains so I assumed it was the same one.

It's still pretty good and I see the difference between the two now. They are both very similar with an exception of the fine details.

Seriously, it needed some amendments, so I added some this morning.

I added wood grain.

This is weird.

Before, at 7:10 AM

After, at 4:30 PM.

What the heck happened? Where did the knots go? This is not a joke, the painting changed on its own while I was doing errands in town!

I have to admit, I’m a little creeped out.

Here are some details on what I did, in case anyone is interested. I applied liquid clear to the white canvas. Afterwards, I used burnt sienna and went up and down with a 2 inch brush. After that, I added the knots. I then used a little bit of paint thinner on a fan brush to make the wood grain by applying it to the canvas directly.

Can someone explain what happened? How did the painting change on its own?

most likely the paint thinner melted it.
