Any Bee Keepers out there?

Anyone producing Cut Comb?

I was wondering if you need a special super like you do for the Ross Rounds, or if you just use the Cut-comb foundation in a normal super. And if that is the case, what size super do you use, medium or shallow?

Personally in my Topbars and Langs I will never use foundation. Well I take that back I have 4 honey supers that have foundation but that is it! I do produce comb honey from my Topbar hives. I added a pic of some new comb being made. It grew another 3-4 inches downward and 1-2 to the left and right...more squarish now.

I think it has been a rough winter ~ a lot of bee keepers in my club have had losses also. Do you know why? Did they run out of food?

I haven't looked in mine yet due to the cold temps ~ but they all still answer me when I do a "tap test" on the hives.

It sounds like they may have been unable to get to the honey and starved. It does not sound like CCD as the bees are dead in the hive.

Please don't give up on beekeeping because of this!
