I had my back door open for a while tonight and several bugs came in, as usual. Just mosquito hawks and june bugs, nothing that worries me.

All of a sudden I hear one loud peeping and a big commotion in the brooder! My RIR pullet just got not one, but BOTH of the mosquito hawks that came in earlier and found their way to the brooder light.

I'm gonna looooove it when these bug eating ladies are working full time

I have noticed, my RIR chicks are very interested in flying bugs, but the yellow chicks just kinda stand around in the background

My white chicks are very interested in worms or ground bugs that the RIR's ignore until someone else has it.

Anybody else notice things like that? Or are my chicks just weird.

I've noticed that some breeds want the ground ones and some jump up after the mosquitoes, etc. They say leghorns are good at spotting flying predators. Some other breed, I forget, likes to kill mice.

Oh how I love mixed flocks....
