I'm reading straight through.
Ninny, I really encourage you to persevere. Reading the bible like a book from first page to last takes 72 hours if you read at the same speed most people speak. Most people can read faster than that. Reading 30 minutes a day you will complete it in 6 months. 15 minutes a day and it will take a year.
Reading it from cover to cover like a complete story that it is gives a completely different perspective on the message. The law, the genealogies, and other portions of the bible that are so hard to get through, even the history of the nation of Israel in the books of judges and the prophets are that way for a reason. Do not "serve your 15 minutes of reading a day. but read it. it transforms your heart and spirit. It causes you to wonder why God did not just obliterate this nation that could not do anything right. I know for me that I could see God justly being in a fury at Israel and just then, He sends His Son to save them. It is very wrenching and revealing of the depth of God's love. The message of the Bible as a whole in context and in order is a very powerful picture of God His love and provision for the condition of man.
I have read the Bible twice from beginning to end, and studied it once from first page to last. that one required 5 years.
Good luck and may you be granted determination, it is the very boredom that makes the task so hard to focus on that molds our spirit to see how God paid such a huge price to save the very people that had let Him down time and time again. It also allows you to see that we still continue to let Him down even today. But His love for use is now plain to see.
