Regarding the "judge", your witness will be much louder than his. Say a prayer for him, confront him if it's obvious that you should, then let it go. It's not as if we are trying to persuade people that, say, our football team is the best one around, or our store is the one you should buy from. You will prepare the soil by your OWN works. Besides, people are not saved unless the Word speaks to them or they are led by someone that they already trust.

MY Favorite hymn isn't well known:
"There Is a Balm in Gilead"

Has any one here ever heard of or seen Ernie Haase and Signature Sound? I'm going to see them for the 4th time July 23rd. I LOVE them! They are so full of energy!!! I have all their cd's.

First, thank you for asking a question like this. So many people would just let it slide and do nothing.

Now for an answer. I say an answer because many will not agree with me and will have their own answers. You have an opportunity to use situations like this to witness to others. Use this as an example of what a Christian should not do. This is why I do not belong to a denomination. I am a Bible believer and a teacher of Right Division.

In studying scripture outside the claims of denominational rules and practices I discovered that men will always try to maintain control on mine and your lives through religion and not scripture. Look at America. For over 300 years we, as a so-called Christian nation, have redefined Christ, God, and the biggie...SIN. Sin, what is it? Will it send you to Hell? If so, how much does it take? Lets look at a few of America's favorites.

Billy Sunday, a famous preacher in history, preached on the sin of drinking alcohol. I always wondered if God used a Breathalyzer to determine if you go to heaven or Hell. And does God check your passport to see if you are American or European since we all know that those in Europe drink wine like we drink water and it is not a sin to drink wine in Europe.

How about the sin of tobacco? I've heard preachers say that tobacco will send you to hell, but when I asked one if a pack of cigarettes would be enough to stir God's wrath or maybe one puff I could not get an answer.

Have you ever noticed that preachers in America have no problem with the sin of gluttony? I once asked a preacher a question. My oldest son had just accepted Christ, in the manner of the church I was attending. He was told what to do and what not to do to keep his salvation. I asked the preacher if my son would go to hell if he died on the way home if he stopped off for a beer and then had a wreck and died? The preacher said yes. Well, I said, How about if he died after a big meal at McDonalds on the way home. The preacher said, "don't be silly."

You see, we have a high opinion of self and a mistaken opinion of Sin. What is SIN?

I John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Churches always use sin as a means of control and forget Christ.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

We've taken sin out of the picture. So how are we saved?

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What do I do if someone comes along and claims that I have sinned and am going to hell? I drank alcohol, smoked a cigarette, ate too much, and had long hair? You tell them that by the blood of Christ your sins have all been washed away. When Christ was on the cross all my sin was future and he died for those sins, therefore all my sins are forgiven, past, present, and future. Nothing can separate me from Christ.

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, what should you do? use it as a witnessing tool. The blood of Christ is the answer.

Hey, guess what I just realized? I was a hippie before I got saved and I'm a hippie now that I am saved..

According to the American Dictionary a hippie is , someone who "rejects social convention esp. advocating sexual freedom and drug taking".

So since today's "social convention", advocates sexual freedom and drug taking and I "reject" that does it means I'm still a hippie?

Someone on another post called themself a hippie and I looked it up. Of course back in the 60's we were called "Jesus Freaks". I'm still a Jesus freak.

This morning after much conviction from the Lord, this is my favorite hymn - modernized by Chris Tomlin, but the Lord gave it to me after I acted in obedience to Him. Isn't He wonderful?
Galations 6:14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

prov31gal, prayers sent. Those aren't dead people talking to your MIL. They are demons, to whom she is already familiar with. She trusts them. I will pray that the Lord will bind and gag these spirits. Not too many death-bed conversions, but binding does work.
DH, while an asst. SA, prayed (with another believer) for a defendant to be abandoned by his demons in court. The man, previously violent, was bewildered about where he was, and what was happening while in the courtroom. His demeanor changed back to normal afterwards.
We ALL know non-believers who don't listen to us. I now pray that another believer will cross their path and reach them. Maybe it takes more than one. Just kick the dust off of your feet and move on. You cannot force anyone to believe. I know that your MIL has been working at her own faith for a very long time. I'm sorry!
