WOW, Cindi!!!

I haven't been participating in our church's weekday meetings for various reasons, but I'm going to start...either at my church or another one that is a little closer but not much. My church is 27 miles away and sometimes I don't get off work until late...which happens more lately. The other church is about 24 miles away, so not much difference.

I would like to find one where there is an exchange of ideas and where one wouldn't have to stop at a prescribed time if the discussion is good and you can feel the Spirit moving. My Sunday school class is not like this....the preacher teaches it and on occasion we get to have a discussion. Just when it's getting good and we are getting to know each other's hearts, he looks at his watch and says we are running out of time!!! How can you run out of time? It's the Lord's day.....

I guess I've never understood that....Sunday is a day of worship and of rest...why not do both of at the same time? Sit a spell and worship/fellowship together. Seems like everyone wants to rush through a schedulled service and rush home to lunch. That is so weird to me!

Oh and I DID forget Saturday night prayer service for the following Sunday morning...we've been know to still be there Sunday morning

I miss getting to go as much as I used to. We are about 30 miles from our church too and with DH not working....gas money is hard to come by

Guess that's what God wants for us right now though.

The meetings last until whenever, and that is the way it should be!

I agree! Especially now...I think it's very crucial that God's people band together and strive to come closer as a family. How can you be a family if you never talk to each other except for a few minutes before and after the service? For me, church is the only time I get to see most of those people and I would really like to know them better. They want me and my family to join the church but I'm hesitant when I don't know anyone very well....and we've been going there for 3 years!

Wow 3 years and you don't know anybody. That is sad. My husband helped work on the preachers house. We have a Spring Cleaning day...oh which is coming up too...that the whole church comes out on Saturday to paint, mow, trim, change light bulbs, eat(we're Baptists

), fix shingles if needed etc. etc. and just have a good time helping out. It's one of my favorite things we do together!

I would love that.....

We are a Baptist church also but I think they've all gotten pretty set in their ways and don't like change. It seems to me they go about things the hard way all the time and get discouraged. Funny how that is, huh?

I love working beside folks...you can really get to know someone when you are both grubbing around in the dirt and getting sweaty!

Yeah, maybe you should come to my church

Some churches do seem to get stuck in a rut with the same people running it all the time and not wanting to do it different or accept anyone elses ideas or opinions. It is sad how God's children squabble at times. It is discouraging for the ones that want to help or do things that would benefit. Pray for them to be more open to changes and BE THE CHANGE! I'll pray for them too

EWveryone should feel as comfortable in church as they do on the couch at home...that's MY opinion. It should be a family setting. I mean...we'll be spending eternity together!!!!!! Think about it!

On second thought, I will leave my thoughts to my self. Good luck finding a church, Beekissed.

We have a very close-knit church group here. Three years ago we built a new church building (trust me-you get to know people VERY well when you are planning a building project and working on it together!), last summer, twin brothers and their families moved from 3-hours away to help our small church grow. They are dairy farmers and built a new dairy farm here. That was another big project! Their children are young-11 and under, so we also help them out with milking/feeding cows, when they have a need. It really helps everyone to know each other better when you do work together.
I hope you can find a church like that, beekissed.
