I love the Lord with all my heart and it is my hearts desire to please Him in all that I do. But in my sinful humanity, i don't always please Him, but I humbly go to Him, and He loves me anyway! He knows my heart!

This is a nice thread to have here; I'm glad to see it!
Just looking at the little chickens grow up makes you marvel in the Creator's ability.

Sorry about the late reply but I lost power early yesterday morning and it literally came on a little while ago. I had eggs hatching, newborn chicks in a brooder, and chicks out in the pumphouse that weren’t old enough to make it without some heat. What a scramble yesterday was!

Paula, this is the same misguided reasoning that says the husband (or wife) must have done something to cause the spouse to do what they did. This puts the oness on the wrong person and assumes that we can somehow control what the other person does. It also acts contrary to Scripture in that Christ holds each and every one of us personally accountable for our personal obedience to Him. Jesus said if one smacks us on the cheek we are to turn the other to them. He doesn't say, "Well, smack them back because they provoked you." For example.

Ozark Hen, I don't see any arguing going on but rather some good discussion. Is this not a thread where we cannot reason together? Cannot iron sharpen iron here? I assume we are all Brothers & Sisters and it seems to me that we ought to be able to set the example here for anyone else who might like to come take a look. If this thread is just a milquetoast place to come for some idle chit chat, then I think God will be robbed of much glory and I'm not sure much growth will come from it. Please let's not us fall into the trap where nothing that "might be confrontational or upsetting" be off limits. So far from what I've seen folks can discuss issues that in many cases would be off limits to many and they can do so in a good, Christ-like manner. If this turns into a place for just idle chit-chat then I don't believe it I'd be a good steward giving much time to it.

Now that's not to say that there is anything wrong with idle chit-chat either. I'm just saying we shouldn't limit it to that and we shouldn't run from discussing vital issues that are affecting The Body of Christ. There is a growing cancer in The Body and it needs to be treated.

Oh, and Paula, there ain't nuthin' wrong with using the Ol' Smoke Pole to put meat in the freezer! I look forward to those pics.

God Bless,

God Bless,

I agree, that there is much misuse of Scripture out there. And to see it held up as "gospel truth" is very sad.
We must each study the Scriptures well, and remain accountable for our own actions before the Lord.
Guidence from others is needed, but it must be tested against all Scripture as well, so as to not put us in a position of fallowing mans rewording and twisting of the Word.

yes, yes, YES! Sometimes, though, from personal experience, when you tell someone to show you what they've just said in scripture, they become a bit, well, put off. That shouldn't be! My DH is famous for that, challenging folks to show him in the Book. "Show me that in the Bible" shouldn't cause contention among the Body, right? And when someone says "I believe this...." or "I believe that...", I always want to tell them that it doesn't matter what you believe, it matters what the Bible says is true. Period. What you believe doesn't change what the Truth is. God said his Word is preserved forever, he meant it. If we don't have a preserved Word, we have an impotent God. And we know that is not the case. Might as well not believe anything at all if we have no "yardstick" to measure everything by.

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
