Any Chance of getting an area Specifically for Organic Q's

I just wanted to come in here and post a public apology to Terrilacey and all of the moderators. It seems in my zeal and excitement I have overstepped the boundaries that are in place and have offended.

As important as this is to me, and because I seldom have much "work" in my life beyond daily living, I do tend to have a problem curbing my enthusiasm when I do have a cause that involves other people.

Anyway, I think I am going to take a step back and let the discussion continue and allow the Staff to mull over the interest by others as well as myself. I will be checking in to read all of the comments.

My thanks goes out to all of you who are helping in this process.

I guess I'm a dummy. I don't see a link to 'easy garden' or the sustainability forum. Can someone direct me. I've looked around the site and don't see anything leading to it.

Thanks
Gwen

They are right at the very bottom of the page here. But you might have a different page than I, so:

www.SufficientSelf.com

www.TheEasyGarden.com

I find them bot pretty relaxing after a stressful day on BYC!

Just kidding Mods!

I would love to see an category for organic chickens. Maybe a sticky at the top of it could mention take all organic topics not related specifically to chickens (like general gardening, lifestyles, home improvement, beauty products, people food, etc.) to the other sites like EasyGarden or SufficentSelf.

I always read anything I find at BYC with organic in the subject line. I am a member at the EasyGarden as well, but the lack of traffic makes it hard to get a conversation going in a timely fashion about some topics. Maybe eventually if more folks join it will be as busy as BYC. For now, I get as much organic chicken info I can here. I am used to a lot of others not understanding why I do things organically. It doesn't upset me to sift through the variety of opinions on the issue. There will be a spectrum within even organic folks opinions on what is okay and how extreme to take organic practices.

I don't raise my chickens for meat, only organic eggs. The meat section would get over looked by me, as well as a many other city dwellers like myself. I still care about organic practices, just not eating our chickens since we can only have a few at a time. I eat other people's chickens that I never met instead.

Thanks for taking the time to consider the request.

I would love an organic section! I am interested in permaculture and on other forums I have found have very sporadic info specific to chickens.
I think the assumption that there is no room here at BYC for that type of discussion is way off. Organic is gaining steam across America and vegetable gardens are cropping up everywhere, even into tiny front yards and chickens are all part of it! We all share one common denominator: chickens. But we all have chickens for different reasons.

could I just point out what might be a possible misunderstanding? terrielacy, organic/sustainable chicken raising is a huge topic, and a teeny tiny part might be about meat. so the meat section is pretty irrelevant to 90% of the topics/issues/questions/discussions about sustainable chicken raising - and it doesn't make sense to try to start a thread about sustainability, or sustainable ways to raise chickens in that section.

thanks again your time and consideration, and all of the moderators/staff who work so hard.
