So I hatched a bunch of eggs this spring and about 2 months ago cockerels started crowing, starting with a Buff Orphington, then the Marans.. eventually to the coochin. All of them have been crowing over a month, but not this guy. I know that they say until it crows or lays an egg, but is there any chance that this could be a hen?

Well, even hens crow!

Though a rooster will never lay an egg.... That is a cockerel as noted by his saddle feathers... They don't lie with exception to Seabrights which males are hen feathered...

Glad to hear he is a barnyard mix and not pure with regards to quality!

He looks quite tasty. :drool

I keep looking up fly patterns. Between him and the rainbow that are going away in the next few weeks, I should be set for most of the summer with hackle.
