This is Abigail, our 12 week old Sapphire Gem. Is there any chance that this is not a rooster? Any chance this breed just grows really fast?

Sorry, it is definitley a rooster, sapphire gems are sex linked so the males are barred and the females are not. I have a few right now and they look exactly like that.

Did you get a straight-run sexlink? I'm trying to figure out how this happened.

No, I was told this one was female. It came from Hoover's Hatchery and from what I have read on this site, their formula for sexing Sapphire Gems seems to be flawed.
