Any clues on this one?

I am doubtful that Polish is in the mix, unless there were Polish mixes in the flock. There's no sign of the horn comb, and the crest is quite small.

I'm guessing Legbar type Easter egger crossed with speckled Sussex.

You're right, these are definitely not purebred no matter what the seller says. The fact that she won't cop to it tells you all you need to know about her business ethics.
Thanks for the feedback. Agreed.. but at least I like the chickens. They are friendly, and colorful. I will keep them with my layers... not breeding birds. Jagger cracks me up.. He's a good diligent fellow.. I call them the Houligan Band of Chickens. :p

Here is less dominant cockerel.. I call him Splash. He is going to new home soon, to a friend along with one the hens (also pictured.

Mixes are great! It's the fact that she sold them as purebreds that is the problem. I could see it being an honest mistake if she acknowledged that they are obviously mixes, but she won't.

Okay… this is bizarre. I believe they may actually have single copies of the duplex comb gene. The first could also just be side sprigs

The crest size makes me doubt the Polish side was pure unless the Polish were very poor quality to begin with… If they had some sort of tolbunt or candy corn project it might be plausible that the parents were poor quality (and explain the mottling)

She may have tolbunts. I think she mentioned that. I like the birds.. they are really colorful.. and their temperment is very nice too. They are still young..I will see what they look like at maturity too. They are about 13 weeks right now.
