Any cons about raising quail?

I've seen them run for the feed bowl before, I dont know how they could be hungry. Our feed prices recently went up as well. I didnt know such little guys could put down green so fast!

They eat like teenages boys. I use a chick feeder only half full. they can get thier heads in to peck, but can't scratch or shovel out feed.

the only con that i've seen is the additiction, i've already spent about 400 bucks in quail stuff, and i've only just started....the eggs are like crack, i got about 45 saved up(i only have 3 hens laying right now) gonna make some spicy pickled eggs a:O!

i find they waste far less when the feeder is on a solid floor. they tend to go back and eat what they flick out more so that way. I have to work that in to my next pen i think...

Very Very stinky, I raised about 75 and they all just trampple each other, and stink horribly... They also fly very very high and fast.

a bag of feed would last you a good long while! 2 maybe 3 months?

For 6 it takes about 6 months to get thru a 50# bag of feed. (this is if you use a low-waste method/feeder)
