Snakes come to eat the rodents that come to eat your chicken feed. No rodents, no snakes. Treadel feeder equals no rodents.

All comes back to many predator and pest control problems are there because people aren't using a treadle feeder. If all you have are small birds then that can be a problem if they can't operate a treadle feeder but even then the solution is to keep a few medium sized birds around. Yes, the very small poults can't use a treadle feeder but few people have problems with rodents in the beginning, only after months if not years of not securing their feed.

Secure the feed and the rats and mice leave in a few days, the snakes will leave a few weeks later, they won't hang around and starve to death. You will have fewer hawks, coyotes, and other furry predators that also come in due to the rodent activity. Most predators have to work hard locating rodents instead of having a huge colony of fat rats living under a chicken coop.
