Any Finch Lovers out There?

That's what the previous owner said too but the guy in my local petshop said the white one also looks like a male because the beak is a dark red/orange colour.

Looks like beak colour is the only way to tell with the whites. Once they have settled their behaviour will give you a clue too. Males have a particular courtship song and dance they do to impress a potential partner that is male specific (they'll do it to another male in the absence of females). Just search on YouTube for a video of their song/dance. Congrats on your new birds! Birds are addictive!

Thanks so much! I totally agree... Once you experience the cuteness then you want more!!!!!!!!

Welp, my zebbies are going. I am getting societies, because Mrs. Zeb deeply hates (and probably secretly wants to do away with) Mr. Zeb. Poor Mr. Zeb is too plain dumb to do anything about it. I have been told that societies will not bicker like that.

Societies are gorgeous! They just love everybody and are so accepting of other birds. And given the opportunity will all squeeze into a nest to sleep at night. I had 5 Societies all bringing up one baby (I couldn't even work out who the parents were) and that baby was as fat as a pudding. They might not have the colours that other finches have, but they are winners in the personality department. And the males dance and song is very cute.

I know. I am on a finch forum. Yeah I was attracted by the zebras' pretty colors and the fact that they were $5 cheaper per bird at the petsmart, and got them. But mrs. Zeb plucks and bites (me and her hubby). Hubby , well he is stupid. Now I know that they are called "bird brains" for a reson, but he is exeptionally stupid. He gets himself stuck in the smallest most impossible gaps. I think he looks for them, just to wedge himself there. He got himself stuck in his millet feeder (Oh wife had such fun, spinning him around, and jumping on his little back and ripping out feathers and pulling his tail then). I had to cut the feeder to get him out. And he flies put when I open his cage door and goes under my bed. One day the cat will eat him if he does not stop.

That takes 'hen pecked' to a whole new level! Zebras are classed as a more aggressive finch. Maybe the poor fellow is trying to get away from his abusive partner, wedging himself in all those strange places. You'll love Societies.

Hi there!
Finches are lovely birds- I currently breed zebra finches. They can be aggressive towards other birds though so be careful when housing them with other birds.

Hi everyone. I have 2 society finch (which are currently sitting on 6 eggs). I can't wait to see what color they will be. They should hatch any day now. I also have a pair of 6 zebras, 8 parakeets and 2 button quail. I love all the song and chatter they all make plus they are so fun to watch!
Hi! Are any of you guys on finch forum?
