Any Gamers Here?

Pics
I need to distract, my dog may need to be put down today, so I am pretty sad.

This is on the subject of PC games. I am very interested in older PC games, specifically command line games. I actually played one, and it was pretty fun. It was included with an old PC game from a company called Hamumu.

The game is called Dr. lunatic: supreme with cheese.

Here’s a picture of the command line game.

Growing up, I actually played a lot of games from this company, and I just recently got all the games I originally had for nostalgic reasons. All of them except for two still work.

They’re very fun, clean, and simple. They’re also the memories of my childhood.

Thumbs up if you recognize any of these games or the company that made them.

I am so sorry to hear about your pup. If you want to, tell us about your dog. My dog had cancer surgery on Wednesday and I thought I was going to lose her. Talking about her helped.

Have you looked into Dwarf Fortress? It's new, but I believe it's command lines.

DF may be the most complex roguelike ever made. It's fun but it can be maddening! :) it's not so much a command line game, it's got ascii graphics. Zork would be what I think of when I think of command line games.

It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.

Well, he’s 14. It may be his time to pass away. The problem he has is kind of gross to describe, so I won’t go into detail. I just say he is unable to relieve himself.

He’s a really good dog, we rescued him 14 years ago on a native American reservation in Plummer, Idaho. He was a starving stray puppy. His ribs were showing. My church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,) arrived to do a service project to clean up a ravine. He came trotting up to us. We gave him a couple sandwiches, and then decided to take him to a shelter when the project was over. On the drive home, he cuddled up next to my brother and kind of adopted us. We decided instead to take him home. He’s been with us ever since.

He really bonded with my St. Bernard, who passed away in 2020 at 10 years old. He also surprisingly bonded with my rabbit, who passed away last year on January 18 at 9 years old.

It may just be his time. I’m gonna miss him, but I know he won’t be in pain.

Anyway, I am rambling. Back on the subject of games, I’ve never heard of dwarf fortress. I’ll have to look into it. I’m really a fan of these old style games.

The nice thing about command line games is they really get your imagination going when it’s just text on the screen.

Oh my gosh, did you just quote Sleepless Hollow? Another Hamumu game?

No my friend, That is Zork. First published by infocom in the long ago of 1977. it was originally designed to run on the DEC PDP-10 mainframe. (all of the below)

Honestly, my nephew excitedly told me about it, but my eyes kind of glazed over.

Oh, I see. I was asking because apparently there was a reference to Zork in the game Sleepless Hollow, referencing that quote. I didn’t know about that until you pointed it out.

I am so glad you and your family kept him and gave him the life he deserved. Our pets choose us. Thank you for sharing your story. I won't say anymore because I know you're trying for distractions.
