Any Gamers Here?

Pics
Oh, has anyone here gotten Among Us yet? I've been thinking about buying it and ruining some friendships. I *love* hidden enemy games IRL.

Thoughts on if it's worth diving into right now? Are the servers holding up OK?

Yeah, we all do household/life maintenance stuff all the time - that's just being a normal adult. It's not like we're NEETs in an anime or something. But like I'm not gonna go into a thread where someone bought chicks and be like "Oh, well I called my mum and had a nutritionally balanced breakfast and did my taxes before I bought chicks today and that's more important. So you should lead off with talking about that because some people get addicted and hoard animals". It doesn't make sense. XD

I had some joy today. Heck on people trying to minimize someones happiness because they didn't talk about how many dishes they washed first. I caught my squid and I'm proud of it. :) No need to be a debbie downer.

You kick that kiddie butt on fortnite - even on the days you have off and decide to be lazy for once. Everyone deserves downtime.

Also, it's my first squid catch in the game. I've never played with them before. My partner and I play together on his days off and he helped me catch it. (I did the catching, he fought off other aggressive creatures with our sharks.) He named it after a class of Russian submarines.

The squid moves so awkwardly in the water. It actually moves like a squid, which is super cool, so it squeezes its tentacles and goes fast for a second, then it slows down for a second as it spreads them out for its next motion. And its tentacles go behind it, your camera points towards the mantles top. When you try to fight with it, you click a button and it turns around and spreads its giant tentacles out and kind of presents arms. Then it waves its tentacles around and whacks things to fight. It can also grab things with the spikes on its big arms and poison them. And in a pinch it can ink and run away. It's very clear the developers put a LOT of work into this creature and it shows very intensely in the details.

Incidentally it's a really high level. It is about 200 right now, which the highest wild animal I have seen on this server is 164. It was wild 120. I'm VERY pleased with my horrific tentacle monster from the depths
Fun fact, the Tusoteuthis - which is what this squid is supposed to be - is the largest extinct species of squid... But was only about half the size of the biggest modern colossal squid that is alive today. Spooky. (But this one is sized more like a colossal squid in the game, because it's a game and they take creative liberties.)

Consoles have servers too these days. PSN, Xbox live, Minecraft has multi platform Realms, etc. I used to be a big console kid, swore consoles were the master race, even though I ultimately grew up with both starting with DOS and my old Matel Intellivison (burger time! >:O That console was the WORST)... RIIIIGHT up until the PS3. PS2 and earlier everything (that wasn't xbox) was DRM free. It was expected to actually function as a complete game right out the gate and had few to no major changes post release, the console couldn't get viruses and stuff, it wouldn't blue screen you or freeze or fatal error or whatever. Very reliable. With the PS3 that went out the window, now a game gets released on a disk and you need a 2 hour bugfix download to play it anyhow... You can plug a controller into your computer if you want, and there's a bigger player base... So I caved and dug deep on computer games and never looked back, though our household still has most major new consoles. (Holiday presents. It's our primary luxury/entertainment expense and we're OK with that. We don't do a lot of expensive activities and otherwise live fairly frugally.) My partners like console games more.

I play a little of a lot of genres... So I like HALO, L4D, Orion: -Prelude, EDF4&5 as shooters, I love JRPGs (FFXV, and a lot of old classics like KH, Tales, etc.) and regular RPGs (Divinity Original Sin has been hot in my house and I loved Fallout 4), I enjoy open world sandbox adventures like Ark and Minecraft and Don't Starve, 3D platformers like Mario Odyssey or Spyro, life simulator/collection games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley... I'm slowly hacking my way through Half Life 1 right now and it's hard because I can't tell what's something I can/can't interact with because of bad graphics, we have big group games of CIV 5 and Diablo 2 with pals. Heck, I even enjoy dumb phone idle games like Egg Inc. and that stupid knot untying game. The game I'm currently most looking forward to is Bugsnax, which looks just charming and so joyful and bizarre.

Generally I tend to sink my most time into games that are either deeply tactical, social, or sandboxy. My whole household is big on games and most of our friends and we connect over games of all sorts, including tabletop/board/card games. I like sandbox adventure games most of all. They just really scratch an itch and I don't know why.

I'm also off to bed, and anxiety is keeping me up more than it should. I'd love to play something with new people sometime. :) Goodnight!

I didn't mean to offend you :hit I just wanted to be sure it's not affecting you. I remember little accomplishments like that. I was soooo proud after dumping hours into farming Octoberfest in WoW and got my Riding Ram mount. But as I said...HOURS. It took me a while to realize I was addicted to that game before I finally put it away forever. Sure I considered playing again when the Panda race came out but then my ex called me and asked if I still played. When I told him no he asked if he could have my character and my gold. I was really offended and hurt by that. It made me see that he had an issue too. Anyway sorry to poo on the party😔

I mean, I did plenty today. XD We all do stuff, right? This is a thread for our fun video game stuff, so I figured it was a good place to brag about my recent catch.
Playing video games doesn't mean you're not doing things elsewhere. It's a hobby.
Exactly. I usually get into heavy gaming during the winter. I have much less going on
Psssh I build the real stuff all day no Minecraft, help my girls with homework, help my wife with dinner tend to my chickens at 5 am,noon, and three times after 4 pm, feed and walk my dog and still kick kiddy butt on fortnite :wee
That is responsible adulting! 😂😂😂

What is the game with the giant squid? I'm way behind on my games. Last game I sat down and beat was witcher, and skyrim. I wanna know more on some good games, considering the snow is going to start falling
