Also, I was given 5 ducklings. They have been introduced to three of my adult ducks. They don’t seem to hate the ducklings but they are not making it easy for them. They are not allowing them to get to the water source. Keeping them cornered and running towards them with their necks stiff. No hissing or biting.
I’m just concerned how am I going to be able to move these ducklings into the coop with three nesting hens or by the time there ready for the pen the eggs may have hatched. They have not been introduced to the sitting hens. These ducklings were incubated so I have no idea how old they were but it looks like it was a staggered hatch cause three are a lot bigger then two of them.
Any guesses in

Your going to have to watch those ducklings around the adults. Adults can kill them. And how many water sources do you have? Put out many so when the ducklings are outside they can find water with out being bullied. No way those babies can be with mamas and newly hatched ducklings. So place all the other ducks except the young ones somewhere separate from the ducks sitting my 2 broodies are in the coop but they have their own private spaces.

This keeps her in with everyone and when the ducklings hatch they are protected we made a door at the end so mama can come out right now. Once duckling hatch she’ll be in there for a week inside the coop once everyone goes out for the day.

Ok, It seems like I’m making every mistake that can be made all at once. I will have to figure out a space for everyone. Something that is adequate for the separation but the protection of the little ones as well. Which will be hard. I found out three hatched on the 3rd and two on the 8th. So it will be a while before they go to the coop and by then the eggs will hatch.

There is no way the broody hens will take in babies that are not their own?

Today it is 66 degrees and windy. Can the ducklings go outside in a pin without a heat source or are they two small?

Too small, Now or after eggs hatch? After eggs hatch the duckling will be to old and now no I find for first 2-5days after hatching their own eggs they will accept other ducklings after that they will not. These are my Muscovy. My other ducks Runners an Buffs won’t brood. Your ducklings need warmth for now. Short excursions out side on sunny days are fine but I wouldn’t leave them out side yet.

just to clarify...
To cold to leave ducklings in their pin outside with this weatherThere too small.

They will be to big for the mamma to have around her babies when they hatch. If they were smaller we could sneak them in there.

Also I went back are reread are thread. My girls have been sitting since April 16 sitting around the clock started happening maybe around the end of April. So I have have baby ducklings sooner then I think. I’m going to try to candor the eggs. I gave to to that in a dark space correct or when it’s dark outside.
