My kid shows in county 4H. So one category she shows in are “pen of 2, egglayers”. They are either both “young” ( under a year) or “old” (over a year). Breeds need to look the SAME (for example 2 buff Orpington need to look as identical as possible, and that is part of the judging criteria), but 2 EE do not need to look the same in feathering, but they DO need to look the same in size and shape. So we buy 6 each year so we have choices, and requesting general colors helps us remember how old they are!Ooooh those sound pretty! I didn't know you could request like that - if I ever order any again, I will try that!
I think you will have variation. Still too much fluff to say. Our dark batch were interesting, a couple had black centers to their feathers and one had feathers on the head/neck that looked like they were brushed back bc of how they were oriented. Yours do not have head feathers yet. Sometimes there a variations to how much fluff they have in their beard snd muffs.Do you think the 2 lighter chicks I got will look very different from the 2 darker ones?
