Hi everyone... I am new here, so I hope I am doing this right...

I got 4 baby chicks 2.5 weeks ago. They are now 3 weeks and 3 days old. Two I have narrowed down to being Speckled Sussex but the other two, I am not sure what they are. I am thinking Welsummer or Brown Leghorn. I got them from a 4th grade teacher who hatched them for her class, that is why I am unsure about their breed. The one I am really curious about, I thought perhaps was a pullet. It feathered out quick and had long tail feathers, where the other one had no tail feathers and short stumpy wings. With that said, I noticed the comb. It is larger and looks to be turning pink already so it is making me wonder if it is actually a lil roo. I am more curious as to what the breed may be than the sex. What are y'alls opinion? (The images are between age 2.5 weeks and 3.5 weeks)

At this age the tail doesn’t mean much. That comb, however... it’s probably a young cockerel. A few more weeks and you will know for sure.

Thank you! I had read that females usually feather out faster than roos, but this baby looks and acts like a roo. What breed do you think this little one is?

That’s all dependent on breeding. Fast feathering isn’t a guarantee. My Brahmas are all female and feathered out at different rates.
