Any Hawaii Folks on BYC?

Hey is anyone on Oahu looking for a male barred Plymouth Rock? We got him from a hatchery and are just starting to realize it is a boy. We would hate to have to put him down because of that but there is no way we can have a male chicken. If you or anyone you know would like to have a male chicken let me know. He was born June 1st so he is still pretty young.

Has anyone tried the deep litter method in Hawaii?

Not here either, sorry. I have sand over linoleum in the coop, natural grade under the coop.

This will be our first tropical storm here in Hawaii. Here's to hoping I built the coop well enough to survive the Darby!

I throw grass clippiiiings and mulch in there all the time but it disappears pretty quickly. Spray LAB and/or feed fermented feed every once in a while too.
