Bears here too. I'm not real quiet, on purpose. And my dog goes with me everywhere, she's off leash about 15 feet in front of me and is very alert and not real brave. She alerts pretty dramatically and I pay attention to what she says with her ears. If she gets behind me and I don't have good visibility ahead I divert.i plan on doing some hiking this year, but am not a climber (no mountains near me or in my province)
but for hiking the only issue is most the places i plan on going are in bear country. and i have a fear of bears...
but i found this awesome stream last year and plan on maybe doing some hiking along it for fishing.
as I am today,
.....I once hiked the Appalachian Trail from northern Tennessee to Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I hiked with a girlfriend, we had a blast! We were in no rush and even stopped in some towns along the way to sightsee. I can't remember exactly how long it took us to hike this distance, but we must have been out there a couple months. I have very fond memories of this trail.
For now I'm having a having a blast with all these chickens, mini webbers in the bator, summer might come soon. That'll have to do.
