Any Home Bakers Here?

I have a question for those of you that actually know anything about the different oils. I’ve used olive oil a few times. I know they have different strengths and uses. But sometimes after about a week, my oil tastes rancid. I don’t opt for the cheap kinds, though this time I went with Bertoli. I figured it is a brand that I know.
Do you have any ideas as to why my oil seems to go bad quickly? Is it truly spoiling or do I just not like olive oil?
My next question is about the different oils that you use. There are so many different oils out there. Coconut, sesame, flaxseed etc. I use it for salad dressing and for pizza crusts.
I don’t care for olive oil, I think it tastes rancid quickly also.

They look really good!
When I was in the fifth grade, Out teacher read the little house on the prairie books to us. The first book was Little house in the Woods. In that book, One day of the week was the Baking day when they baked a weeks worth of bread, cakes, pies and etc.

You were a pioneer today!

Yummo!

I baked a loaf of buttermilk bread today. I never had it before but will make it again. I actually kneaded it by hand instead of the mixer.

Love it! You did a great job on that loaf.

Hand kneading is therapy and great exercise for your arms.
Thanks Ron! I don’t do much for homemade bread but with practice I’ll be a professional like the rest of you:)I’ve tried making buns but they are not pretty like the Rhodes Texas rolls so I will stick with them

Hand shaping buns and then free baking them is not easy. Usually a pan is used:

This one is for hot dogs:

My mom made the prettiest buns. I should have paid more attention but it didn’t interest me at the time. I doubt I will ever do hotdog buns, neat pan though. When I do the Rhodes I put 12 in a 9x13 pan and they all squish together.

Hamburger buns are fairly easy. you have to make a ball, smash it flat and tuck in the bottoms.

:gig That description cracks me up!
