Any Home Bakers Here?

Personally, I really do wish we could live in the days of old. I know that I was a good wife. I cooked, cleaned, mended, and tended. I even went on the road because that’s what he wanted. I cooked things in a truck he never knew were possible (he’s been a trucker since I was 2). Everything was fine until he realized he hated children (Duckling was here, and he had to share me against his will). And I said I was pregnant right after.
I would love to spend my life cooking and baking in the oven/stove, and cleaning without a Roomba.
But that’s not what life is about anymore. Everyone has to go to work (in a hurry), and we are all strapped for time. No time to cook, no time to clean, no time to spend with friends and family, no time to even sleep.
Such a shame.

Instant pot is a pressure cooker and is very good at cooking things like beans, stews, stocks meats.

They also use a lot less energy to cook foods. They cut the time of things like stew, beans and pot roast in half and get hot enough to make the Maillard reaction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillard_reaction

White beans cook under pressure for about 25 minutes and then have a 10 minute cool down for pressure to lower to release the safety locking lid. Chicken stock from bones takes one hour under pressure and you can instant release the pressure.

I have been using pressure cookers for 20 years now and love them! The instant pot is easier to use because it has a lot of settings to make it easier.

Get a book with recipes and try it out.

It is a shame BC. I remember when my boys were small and there was all the fuss about women leaving their children for a career (maybe that's still going on, don't know). If I'd had a choice, I would have jumped at the opportunity to stay home with my kids. But no chance of that. It just seemed unfair to be labeled one way when I'd rather have done the other.

We just don't always get to do what we most want. That's life and sometimes it is a shame.

I was fortunate. I stayed home and Made Bread and Molasses and
Sugar cookies and sold them in our neighborhood and went every
Saturday with 50 loaves of bread and sold them for $1.00 a loaf
When my two children were old enough to go to school...and I had a neighbor who would have them over to her house to be with her children....I went to work. This worked out fine. AND
I went on to own my own Advertising Agency and teach
Marketing Advertising at a local College for 33 years. I do MISS
teaching. Life has been good. Aria

Guess I'm old fashioned. I prefer my oven & stove top to anything else. I love my Dutch oven and use that every chance I get.

With you I have a slow cooker Will use it today with Pork Carnitas but do 98 % with the stove or outside grill

I believe having a Instant pot it would take up room in cupboard I enjoy toiling gives me a grin for them say "awww this great" or not but i can usually say make a tur*

My instant pot seems to take about 20-25 minutes to get up to temp and pressure to cook. So far I have made Spaghetti w/ meat sauce (I like it, DH still has not tried it), Chicken & Potatoes (everything was over cooked), Mac & Cheese (once was really good, second time was "too rich" for DH and I had to eat most of it all by myself).
I need to try the instant pot for beans and rice yet. Oh, and Yogurt, I want to make yogurt in it.
