Our stove has a middle burner also- it can be two small burners or one long one. I usually only use it for indoor grilling when the weather is not conducive to outdoor cooking (or when DH is too tired to start up the grill). the stove came with a flat griddle that you replace the burner rack with but I bought a nice, heavy cast iron griddle for that burner and it works great - one side is flat and the other is corrugated so the sausages get grill marks. It is even more useful now that we have a stove hood with good venting. I hated to use it before because the whole house would smell like cooked sausages for a day or so.
