Have you tried the Baker's Flour that Ridley's sells? I finally broke open the 25 lb. sack that I had bought. It is their most inexpensive flour and is milled in Brigham City, Utah.

It is working very nicely for me.

BTW, which side of Casper did you end up on?

I've only been in Ridley's once and that was before moving here. If I do go, I'll check out their flour.

Ridley's is based out of Idaho and bought a number of Safeway's after the merger. They had two here in town but closed the central one.
The closest one to me is Winnemucca nevada.

We do have a local chain called Raley's that is fairly good

I have a chicken egg question that has to do with baking.

My girls' eggs seem to have a very thin or fragile membrane around the yolk. When I crack the egg, the yolk almost always breaks (4 out 5). Even sitting in the bowl, the membrane will sometimes break.

I have a lot of recipes that call for eggs to be separated. Am I doomed to always have to buy eggs for those recipes?

The chickens are 10 months old. I feed an all flock 20% protein pellet. This has been going on ever since they started laying. Help? Advice? Anyone else have this issue?
I used the same type of feed and didn’t have that issue. I gave oyster shell free choice, limited treats in general but especially scratch. Have you tried fermented feed? My flock loved it and I usually fed it to it them daily with a little bit of scratch mixed in each morning, like maybe a tsp per bird, I’d offer them a bit more in the evening, they’d usually eat more at night before bed, but also left food available 24/7. My flock also seemed to prefer the rock like oyster shell I got from TSC over OS I got elsewhere.

I haven't tried FF yet, but it's on my list of things to experiment with. I've decided treats for the time being will be their food as a mash with some barley fodder on top. I'll be going to TSC tomorrow and look into Egg Booster to add to their water. I give them Dumor OS, but I think they don't like it. I'll look for another brand. They eat plenty of crushed up eggs shell, though.

I cracked 5 eggs today, and tried being as gentle as I could, opening the egg just above the bottom of the bowl I crack them into, and making the crack farther around the egg. 5 out of 5 did NOT break the yolk. So maybe I just have to be more gentle with my girls' eggs. :)

Thanks for all the advice!
