Any Home Bakers Here?

Jealous. High 80's, 90's around here. Expecting feels-likes in the triple digits most of next week. It rained all day today and didn't help at all, lol.
It was 50°F this morning with a real feel of 40°F.

I am making ham & bean soup and ran out of carrots so I pulled a couple from the garden.

I found that adding a bit of commercial regular yeast ensured I got great rises and texture
The recipe I use for regular loaf sourdough bread has 1.5 teaspoons of yeast.

I have silicone cups that go in the muffin tin.

Is it okay to use them instead of greasing up the muffin tin?
Sure thing!
Love those things. No waste, easy to get off the food inside them.

Speaking of starter, I got mine situated yesterday. Fed it this morning. Does it take a few days for it to get bubbly?
It can. Mine got there faster than I expected and I didn't recognize that it was already happy. Managed not to kill it.

Hello everyone. I won't be baking for a while as so much is being fixed in my home but just checking in.

Hope you are all doing well :)
Don't be a stranger! You don't have to post any food items to participate. This post being evidence of that :D

I did make a loaf of sourdough bread and 8 burger buns yesterday.

I got mine today! Thanks, @ronott. Hope I can keep it going.
That is good news!

It will become very easy soon to take care of. It really is not hard to take care of.

The biggest thing is to keep it in the fridge when you are not using it.
