Is anyone making/baking anything special for Valentine's Day?

I found this pan set on sale at Michael's and thought I'd make a chocolate cake, frosting the layers alternating coconut and chocolate frosting. I hope the 5 layers don't slip all over (maybe use bamboo skewers to hold it up?). Any advice in case things get slippery?

Nah, I'm a miserable scrote who doesn't go in for these commercially created days (and i don't have a romantic bone in my body). I believe my wife is giving up meat for lent, so i might cut some raw vegetables for her, and give her some bread and water - thats enough of a treat surely?

I'm guessing your advice request relates to baking Debby?

Enjoy the rest of the day - sundowner time in this neck of the woods.

Gee Chris, with a gesture like that I don't know how you can claim to not have a romantic side to you.

What kind of flour are you using different flours weigh differently.

it doesnt say. it just says bread flour. so i am just going to go with white bread flour(if that is what you call it)? sorry never baked bread before. the bread i plan on making is a puerto rican brea called Pan Sobao.

sunflour found this link for us to refer to and it gives weights for flour:

(Bread flour, 1 cup = 4 1/4 oz or 120 grams)

Don't apologize for asking questions, we all learn as we go!

Nope, don't really celebrate it here either, my hubby is a party pooper too lol. Reakons it's just too commercialised and I have to agree I guess. Mind you every year or so he remember and brings me a bunch of flowers out of our garden which is sweet :-)

My eldest daughter however does a secret Valentine thing with her friends at school much like secret Santa and each year she makes and colours chocolates for hers.

Guess I look at things a bit differently. I figure days like Valentine's, Christmas, etc. only get as commercialized as you let them. Homemade treats, cards, favorite dinner...nothing that involves a lot of money, it just kind of puts a fun spin on a day.

We do! And I very much look forward to it. DH and I do not get alot of alone time, so going out, without kids, is very rare. We use holidays as a good reason to remember each other. I am very much looking forward to our date. Where we go is not important, we are going somewhere sweet and fun. It is not the money he spends, it is the time. And I know we should spend time everyday, but it is very difficult to dress up and enjoy a conversation with little kids. Maybe someday.
