Well I was going to do a lemon pie with meringue but I saw jumbo blueberries at the store and had to use them! So no meringue but a lemon blueberry pie with a shortbread crust! Cooling now and will chill a few hours, so hard to wait!

I’m a little shaken right now. We almost had a fire in our house.

We happen to have a woodstove, everything was installed professionally. We have used this woodstove before with no problems.

We put in a little bit of kindling today, as well as a couple of very small logs. After a little bit, something happened indicating a malfunction somewhere. The pipe at the top of the stove literally turned red. Smoke was pouring out of the reclaimer. We had to use a fire extinguisher.

The fire is out now, but there still a little bit of smoke in the house.

We have no idea what happened.

Needless to say, we’re not using this woodstove until we have it looked at professionally.

I just thought I would let you all know I’m OK, and the house is OK.

Anyway, on the baking subject, how many of you have ever heard of an appetizer called Angels on Horseback?

It’s basically oysters wrapped in bacon. I’m going to try it as soon as I can get my hands on some oysters.

I need another opinion.

Do you think I should add some hors d’oeuvres to serve before the Thanksgiving meal is ready? I’m thinking about presentation.

My family usually does some combination of veggie tray, shrimp and shrimp sauce, or cheese and sliced meats.

What a scary time sometimes a bird nests in the chimney and blocks it… in Germany you are obligated to have a professional chimney inspector come every year , so no chimney fires here I remember back in Canada we did our own sweeping ( my father, of course) it was a very stressful time for my mother, until he got back safe from the roof ..
I just made keto bread ( chickpea flour , quark, eggs, salt, spices )for my son ( he doesn’t need to diet, but a friend of his does, so he will also go on the diet ) , but also starting a regular sd, plum and pecan)

We went to yesterday, it is only and hr. drive away from us, we bought some rat poison and cigarettes for friends, cigarettes (800 are allowed per grown up) are way cheaper there ( gas too) and you can no longer buy rat poison in as a regular customer, only if you are a licensed exterminator
