Any Home Bakers Here?

Small world... I'm making them brownies for my sons graduation next week but they are not called knock you naked....same ingredients though. I use a Devils food cake mix....they are fabulous!!
I've heard that Devil's food cake woorks well, too. I haven't tried it yet. I'm thinking of experimentiing with Kahlua or Bailey's Irish Cream in there somehow. I made some brownies from a recipe on the back of the box(krusteaz gluten free, i think) and it had a bailey's icing recipe suggestion for them. It was so good I've become obsessed with what else would possibly be good with some Bailey's.

that sounds so good! you should definitely show a picture when its done.

I will do that

Here is my homemade Bailey's Irish Cream recipe. So much better than the store bought. I made it for Christmas gifts for a couple of friends and it was a huge hit!
We have it over an ice cube in a small sipping glass...

My mom did cake decorating for wedding cakes and such on occasion. I remember her making 8 cake layers for a friends wedding cake! It turned out to be 2 cakes of 3 layers and one cake at 2 layers. Made with 4 different flavors - all homemade in our kitchen. She tried to teach us kids how to make frosting roses whenever she had leftover frosting, but I think I was too young to catch on. She died of cancer when I was 10, so I treasure all the memories I have of her.

We always had the bestest birthday cakes! We all had Barbie cakes at one time or another, I think my sister had one three years in a row because she asked for it of course! Mom wrapped the Barbie's legs in foil or wax paper before putting it into the cake ... I think the first Barbie she used had frosting stained legs.

OK, making the cookies tonight, thanks for the links guys.

My sourdough starter from the freezer is a bust, was someone on this thread offering to send sourdough starter?

It never even occurred to me that I could make it myself. Looks like I'll be picking up some Jameson very soon....

edited to add: how long will this keep for?

I can't ice a cake to save my life, let alone decorate one! LOL

My, My!

Yes you need to bake!

I've been awol for a bit now...it was fun to get caught up on reading all your posts! Got moved to Wyoming, busy working and trying to settle into our new place so no baking for me yet but I'm totally enjoying what the rest of you are doing. Keep it up!

(Also, I'm behind in getting the index updates to Sumi but will try to rectify that soon.)
