HI everyone, I have been lurking on this for a while and decided to join in. I just received my very first Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Christmas. I am so excited to start using it. We had xmas eve, xmas and New Years day open house here so there are a lot of baked goods, etc still around. Looking for some ideas on what to make with it first!!. I am an avid baker and cook and am so excited to be here with you all. Happy New Year.

Yes, I had one for quite a few years before it finally gave up.

They wash and then I air dry them on the back of a chair.

I love using the dough hook to make bread doughs.

Glad you joined the thread. I love my KA - have had if for nearly 30 years and it still runs quite well. I use it mainly for cakes, pies, cookies. Never tried the dough hook but want to.

I want one of those bowl scraper blades, but they don't make them for the retired models…you may need to ask for one for next year.

Nice to see you here! I had to chuckle when I saw that you're "free rolling"...probably not the same as "free wheeling", right? I'm a free roller too. I do put waxed paper under my pie crusts to be sure they will come off the rolling surface but I've never used one of the bags.

What kind of bread do you like to bake? I've spent the past year or so learning yeast breads and am always ready to try a new one.

Nice to have you here! There's always room for another baker. Congrats on getting a KA stand mixer. I've had mine about 15 years now and would really hate to try to do without. I make a lot of bread so the dough hook is handy. Also like to make cookies and the mixer with the paddle hook makes quick work of a big batch of cookie dough. Mine came with a whisk hook too and I don't know that I've ever used it.

Let us know what you whip up with your mixer and feel free to share the recipe if you'd like.

I bake yeast breads
pizza dough
and lots of sourdough stuff.
Sourdough bagels! Yum!

I have ground my own flour too but have not in some time.

I have had a starter going since 1984.

Oh yeah on the homemade pizza dough! I have a recipe for that too that we really like. It makes enough for 2 big crusts and since it's just DH & me, we almost always have one dough in the freezer for a quick dinner. It would cost a small fortune to buy one of our pizzas from a pizzaria...we like to really load them up, lol.

Sourdough bagels??? Those sound good! I haven't tried sourdough yet so I'm really impressed that you have a starter from '84.

Couldn't decide between the pastry bag or rolling mat, so just got them ordered at KA's site…and a pastry fork too..Will be making a pie when they get here.
