Any Home Bakers Here?

You'll have fun working on one with your granddaughter! And if you don't feel like baking the "house" part, you can use graham crackers or get a kit to start you off. Did you see the one @Alice28
did with her son (I think he's 5)...very cute!

Yup, he's five! @tjo804 I know I already said it, but he loved it! He will also be decorating gingerbread cookies at school tomorrow. Last year we decorated gingerbread cookies with the daycare and they loved it, I think we might do that again, but after the holidays. We have just already made some sweets to send home and adding a bunch of cookies is just too much at this point. We might save that for New Year's Eve! Then we can have a little New Year's Eve party here and my son will be home to join in decorating. Yup, sold myself on that idea, that's now what we will be doing! Haha

Yeah that last little bit is soon uncomfortable. I find it funny how quickly we go from, "Baby will come when he is ready." to "I do not know how much more I can take!". I was the same way, it seemed to change overnight.
Yes, I remember my first I was so scared but by the time 9 months came it was I don't care what you do get this kid/alien out of me.!!! I went two weeks over with the first and then 1 week with the last, doc said if I didn't have it by the following monday they would put me on the monitor to see if the baby was stressed, and either wait or induce, that scared him out of there, he came that friday. My sack of potatoes 9.5, wrong one to go natural with but in the delivery room it was too late lol when I figured out.

Eggsy, I like the sounds of that French Toast Loaf. Might have to give that one a try.

Phil, I want to know about the rhubarb syrup too. If you made it, how did you do it? Phil, if you're hungry I have some beef in the crock pot to shred later for bbq sandwiches. Definitely using @BBQJOE 's sauce recipe again. The buns are rising and all is right (so far) with the kitchen world.

For Christmas dinner we're doing ham. Which sounds easy but trust me, it's not. I think I've mentioned one of the 2 food rules DH has, no sweet on meat...try finding ham without sugar. Sure we could fork out big bucks to get one of the fancy smoked ones but I'm not willing to fork over a mortgage payment for one. So every year, the quest resumes...finding a non-sugary ham in the grocery stores. Still looking.

Alice, your NYE party with the kids sounds like fun!

Do you remember babe the movie?
''Pork is a nice sweet meat."
May the force be with you.

See, that's just it...pork is already sweet enough. Why add sugar? Drives me crazy, sugar on top of sweet. And don't get me started on those glaze packets attached to the sugary, sweetened meat.

(And nope, I never saw Babe.)
