Any Home Bakers Here?

I need to make more of NorthFLChicks chocolate chip cookies...the batch I made last weekend did not last 24 hours.

LOL, I know! Making them as large as the recipe calls for (1/4 cup dough), it makes a small batch. A small batch of BIG cookies

They are good though, glad you liked the recipe!

Bought myself a new food processor yesterday! My existing one worked, kinda, you had to shake it to make it go :-). A local store is moving and had a sale where if it was the one sitting on the shelf not in its box you got it 50% off. I've been looking at them for so many years I couldn't leave it there :-)
It even has an extra grain mill attachment I can buy ;-)

Needless to say been playing with it all morning. Made some date scones and a cake from its cookbook which I think could possibly be my most successful sponge ever once it cools.

I also made some sourdough in it with its dough hook but I'm not sure I'd bother again. Used their recipe and just substituted 200g my sourdough instead of yeast like I normally do but it was soooo wet I had to tip it out and add heaps of flour and the recipe only said to mix with dough attachment for about 60 seconds. It's still doing its final rise so will see I guess. I did try out that loaf roll from the monk video though. Was a bit too soft still so hard to do, but way easier than the roll methods I've seen before. I think I actually pulled it off lol

Congrats on getting your new food processor and at a great price.

Sounds like it can do more than the ancient one I have - What brand/model did you get?

@appps Congrats! That's an awesome deal on a food processor!

We tried out the homemade paper yesterday, but it takes a day or more to dry (might be longer with the colder weather) so I will wait until it drys to give

Tomorrow I have a friend coming over and we are going to try out an eclair recipe I found on Pinterest! I'm super excited, I have never made them before. Hopefully they turn out well

Congrats on the new food processor! 50% off is a wonderful deal :thumbsup

Is the date scone recipe posted somewhere? I have dates, I like scones...sounds like a good idea.

They are an English scone so something you have with a cuppa tea like a cake. Not like your scones they served us with dinner in the states, that was a bit of a culture shock lol

Just make sure you mix the milk in with a knife. The secret to a good scone is as little mixing and kneading as you can and a nice hot oven.

For date scones just add about 1/2 a cup of dates that you have roughly chopped just before the milk. Serve hot with butter.

I made these for my sister who is diabetic and has Bowel disease so used whole meal flour and I used 1/4 teaspoon of stevia instead of the sugar. The dates added their own sweetness. Then we are dairy intolerant so I used almond milk and a butter substitute. They got the thumbs up :-) but with so little of the original recipe I'm a bit surprised lol

It's a kenwood. I've always found they last a long time. My old one was 20 years old and my mixer which is also kenwood and still going (though the whisk attachment just broke :-( ) is about 25 years old.

I'm not a fan of chocolate eclairs, they tend to be too sweet for me, but mum used to make little round eclairs without the icing and filled with whipped cream. Yummy!

Never heard of Kenwood, but they look very nice. Does it also have a blender attachment? I so miss my blender - rarely used it but sometimes really need one.

Is it just me, or were chocolate Eclairs of the past not as sweet as they are now. I bought one at a bakery a few years ago and it was so, so different than those I remember. It was so sweet, I tossed it after one bite

Go make some eclairs! It is not too difficult.

Ron, you have a new avatar! Please don't tell me you've had it a month because I just noticed, lol. Are those some of your birds? Lovely!
I changed it a week ago, so fairly new.

I think everything these days is sweeter.

Yes it does have a blender with it, I've got 4 now lol. The mixer has one, I got a good one so I could blend ice but it didn't really, a Nutri bullet (best blender ever) and now this one
