Any Home Bakers Here?

My first attempt at sour dough onion bagels. They might not look too pretty but I hope they taste good. I was pretty sloppy at rolling them out this morning. In a hurry. have to feed birds today and sort the eggs. I'm taking some of the eggs to sell at a swap meet Saturday because I have sooo many. Sold a lot of eggs at the last swap meet. We sell a lot of eggs at our farm but the girls are laying great and the ones that were on vacation are now laying again. Soon what we call snow birds will be heading back up north and we do have quite a few that buy eggs from us. Soon it will be time to sell some birds to make room for the new hatches and I'm still working on setting up my breeding pens and putting up new wire in between the pens to separate the birds as I put certain males with certain females to get the best possible chicks. I have some of the pens done but still a few more to do. My husband has Parkinson's so it is easier for me to do it myself but it really isn't easy for this old lady. My mind say's I'm still young at heart but my body doesn't agree.

If any of you get a few minutes, check out the Florida state thread (https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/florida-always-sunny-side-up) and be prepared to be amazed at cmom's set up. Huge set up outside of coops/runs and inside a big room full of incubators. Her RIR's are gorgeous. Very impressive stuff!

@cmom bet those bagels are tasty

I used my chicken cake mold for the first time today post #1635

That is so cool! A pound cake was perfect for the mold, you can really see the features that might be hidden with a frosted cake. Love it!

Almost forgot to add...the Easter Egg cake looks like a fun project. I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks @sunflour

It didn't happen over night. It has taken many many years. I started around 50 years ago with my first flock. I have went through what every chicken owner has gone through over the years.

All your hard work shows!

What temperature do you keep your sour dough starter at? Mine has not been refrigerated.
Room temperature for feeding. Water added is in the 85f range. I put it into the fridge after it bubbles. I will toss half of it when the jar gets too cruddy and replenish with flour and water.

I will be feeding mine tonight--I will be baking this weekend!

Are you trying anything new this weekend Ron?

I am thinking of adding apples and cinnamon to my bagel recipe. I have made cinnamon and asiago cheese before but have not added fruit yet.

It is time for some baguettes too. I also want to try out a white cake recipe from The Cake Bible, a new to me book from Christmas.

Should be fun!

Nice...you got The Cake Bible for Christmas! I've read reviews on that one in the past, it looks like a wonderful book.
