- it's alive! Here the past couple days, I was thinking I had done the starter wrong. It wasn't smelling much, but after it's morning meal this am, I came to find it like this. Pretty exciting stuff. My sourdough journey has begun.
It looks perfect!

Thanks, now I need to read up on what I am actually in for from here. Thanks again for your willingness to share your wonderful sourdough starter. Often these types of things are not passed around to just anyone. We feel very blessed by your culture and our hearth has been a'brewin' with our 5 different fermentation projects. Funny story, we had two bread machine not 9 months ago, we donated them in November because we never used them. I was only thinking of using them for proofing the dough before making. I want the full experience of making the dough as far as shaping it. My neck is fused at 3 levels and I had arm surgery last year so kneeding by hand is out, but that is what my kitchen aid stand mixer is for. Love it!

I'm actually finding I prefer the kitchen maid to the bread machine. My bread machine takes 1:30 to get to the first proof and often its texture isn't quite right because you don't adjust as you are kneading. The dough hook on the other hand takes me about 6-8 minutes of kneading then about half an hour rising to get to the same place. If the dough is too wet or too dry I can easily adjust that. So even for proofing the bread maker is pretty slow, your probably better off just putting it in a warm spot.

Those look really good! Care to share either of the recipes?

The cinnamon roll one came off Pinterest but I'm not sure I'd do it again. It really didn't rise much and was a bit heavy. Think I'll keep searching :)

The other one is just a regular bread roll but after you form the rolls you roll them in melted butter, garlic and herbs and then put it a tin to rise together. When it cooks you end up with a herb and garlic pull apart.
