Any Home Bakers Here?

It's still yellowish. I'm going to have to pamper it this week to get it fired up and ready to use this weekend, I messed up and got busy, didn't feed it enough and got pink stuff all over the surface, I had some in the fridge, so I just trashed the pink stuff and started over with the stuff in the fridge. This weekend was just weird, we did a bunch of running around that we don't normally do and that got me out of my routine.
Toss all of the starter except for 1\4 cup and feed with 1C flour and 3\4C water(80degree F) each morning. Each evening add 1\2C flour. Repeat the next morning until the starter goes back to white.
Use the water from the store. Distilled if possible

Will do. Have been giving it distilled water and giving it some dry milk, instant mashed potatoes, and EVERY NOW AND THEN a tiny splash of ACV. Not much of the other ingredients, but it really seems to like them when I give it a treat.

We used to have a sourdough starter but we got busy with life and forgot about it  it got moldy so we got rid of it. Maybe someday, we'll start another one.
I can mail a start to you. PM your address to me

Yesterday I also baked three loaves of hard cracked wheat bread sweetened with molasses.

For dinner tonight I'm making a beef casserole, it's actually one of my favorites and very easy to make!

Servings: 3-5

1 pound ground beef
1 14 oz. Diced tomato
1 15 oz. Black beans (I use chili beans to kick it up a notch)
1 small diced onion
1 cup cheese
Optional: jalapenos, diced green chilles, pre-cooked rice

Directions: Preheat oven to 360. Cook and season the ground beef (garlic, salt and pepper) and dice onion. After that is done throw everything together in a 9X13 in casserole dish. Sprinkle the cheese on top and bake for about 15-25 minutes or until the cheese is a nice golden brown.

Viola!

It's delicious with sour cream and tortilla chips! :drool

That sounds good! I'd eat it with a handful of tortilla chips

The tool is called a lame (pronounced la-may). King Arthur has a couple different ones and I'm sure they're available other places.

thanks

Like KFC said, it is a lame. It came in a kit from breadtopia I think. I have two of them. The razor makes a nice cut on the loaf

I have been experimenting with polymer clay, could make one of those easier than baking real bread as gorgeous as yours :)

This meal is rather tasty because it has alot of mayo in it. :p http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/easy-chicken-divan-140830

Thanks for the recipe, gotta try this one for sure.
