Any Home Bakers Here?

Aria, you want to do the boiling water...that's what gives the bread it's chewy crust. I just put 2 bread pans in the lowest rack of my oven, heat the oven to temp, then put hot water in the bread pans when I put the bread dough in. It creates a nice steamy atmosphere in the oven (just be careful you don't burn yourself).

And we do make sandwiches with it, this is DH's favorite bread.

You can also spray the bread with water when you put it into the oven and a again after 10 minutes

Remember that crazy class I told you I took, well I used both methods. Boiling water in pan and spray the oven walls and bread. It worked great.

I do not have to do that with the clay baker and the porcelain dutch oven

I do not want to buy a steam oven. Those things are expensive!

Sadly, I have to confess I haven't tried my clay baker yet. It arrived just before we moved and is here somewhere still in a box. The reason I want to try the Dutch Oven is to see how well it accomplishes the same goal. Since my porcelain one has plastic handle on the lid, I use my solid cast iron with parchment paper. Last Thanksgiving my stove in the new house died, so I splurged a bit and got a gas oven with dual fan convection cooking and a five burner top with cast iron grates. I've so missed cooking with gas.

we have the dual fan convection five burner with cast iron grates even a cast iron griddle that replaces the the middle burner cover.... I absolutely love it :love
 
I have that oven too! It did not come withe the griddle, so I bought one on ebay. really like the griddle.
The convection gas oven made a nice crispy skin on the turkey too

I was real leery of the convection thing but only new of it with a toaster oven that really was underrated now I have it on the my wiz bang stove I love it although I gave up my double door oven I wish it was on this
