Hey bakers! It’s been a while since I’ve been on BYC! I’ve done a bit of baking lately but nothing too major, though I do have a story to tell. The other day a friend and I decided to bake a cake (which turned out well), but then we decided to frost it.As we went to put the frosting on (giving the cake a couple hours to cool) the whole top layer of the cake basically just peeled off and mixed in with the frosting. Then the edges started crumbling off and it was a mess. Needless to say, we weren’t the best cake bakers! But it still tasted great, lol!
Good to see you again!
Always be sure your cakes are 100% cool. If you then apply a crumb coat (thin application of frosting) and then wait for that to sit up, your final layer of icing will come out a lot cleaner.
But as long as it tastes good!
