Any Home Bakers Here?

My mom has the Hoosier Cabinet from her parents. It is in the family room and holds her bird statue collection. It is in really good shape and I would love to have it, but there isn't any room in my kitchen for it. I don't think she is willing to give it up either.

My kitchen is really old - maybe still original to the house (1935) old. I am not sure about that because the cabinets are made of plywood with wood facing and doors. The shelves are all fixed height at about 9 inches. I cannot put a pitcher on a shelf without laying it down. How convenient is that, lol. The kitchen remodel is a few years out yet.
As an alternative, I have talked to my husband about making a narrow cabinet to fit along a wall in the kitchen. Right now i have a $20 cheap shelf from Walmart there and that is falling apart.

I do understand. Do you have room NEAR the kithen? At our house...which is large....I do not have room in my kithen for the Hoosier. It is NEAR the kitchen in the dining area. WORKS. And
I have a lead on a small Hoosier for my Cottage. I have a tiny
kitchen in my Cottage and will put my Hooseier (when I find it) in the dining area close to kitchen. They are so practical and useful
if you are a baker. Everything in ONE place. SUPER. Aria

I have my China cabinet in the hallway - serving as a liquor cabinet. There is a built in China cabinet in the dining room for my china and the rest of that wall is the opening for the family room. The next wall is 2 half walls with columns and is open to the living room. Wall 3 is bay windows onto the front porch and the last wall is open stairway to the second floor.
the mud room is right off the kitchen, but that has an extra fridge and full size freezer in it, along with the laundry closet and a small coat closet.

Hey, I'm sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I have a very, very bad virus. Today when I'm posting this is day four of me being sick.

I made chicken noodle soup recently, and I bought an Easter ham for my family.

When I'm feeling better, I'm going to make some pulled goose sandwiches.

Also, me and my brother have a tradition that never fails, and always happens around this time of year no matter what.

To be blunt, every year around late April or early May, we have a very weird urge to watch Halloween movies. We don't know why this happens every year around this time, but it does. Me and my brother call it "Half Moon Fever."

We might just celebrate it today.

@jnicholes Sorry that you are feeling poorly, hope you get over it soon. Sounds like a neat tradition ... movies when you are sick are a required treatment. What movies do you watch?
I made the cut-out cookies. We ate every one of them without frosting any of them. I love that cookie recipe! I am going to make another batch and actually decorate them.

I bought a 21 pound ham for Easter - there will be 10 people at dinner and my mom is bringing polish sausage also. Can anyone say "Leftovers", lol. Leftover ham is my favorite part of Easter. :celebrate I slice and dice and freeze in small quantities so I can use it for whatever. I am not sure if bacon or ham is my favorite food.

It sounds like you are doing better.

Watching Halloween movies in spring is a good tradition! Do you watch Christmas movies in July too?

Both hoosiers were in the “kitchen” AKA, the original kitchen now dining room. I also had a China cabinet, upright freezer and refrigerator. The actual kitchen was probably built around ‘44. It has ... you don’t care.
I now have both in the kitchen, but would actually like to put one back in the dining room. I wish I had a third.

To be honest, I don't watch Christmas movies in July.

It's the strangest thing. Every year for the past 15 years, everytime late April and early May roll around, me and my brother have this weird urge to watch Halloween movies. It never fails.

Its weird.
