Any Home Bakers Here?

Well I think I remember years ago when the sushi craze hit they had lots of people getting worms. I thought they would be in digestive system too but I saw a nematode in a pack of fresh fish at Costco a few years ago. I’m going to have to do some googling and yapping before I spread inaccurate stuff.

My sister worked in Alaska cleaning salmon and she said by late August the worms were terrible. My aunt and uncle fished up there for 40 years and she worked in seafood safety as well and she won’t eat anything raw. Having said that she faints at a medium rare steak!
The fish nematode which is like trichinosis in pigs, does not live in humans. It causes damage to the intestines as it tries to invade the body though. It is very bad for a person and gets worse each time a person is infected.

It is not as common on salmon but is very common in cod and red snapper. Sushi grade salmon is not supposed to have them. What happened was that some sushi places bought farmed salmon that was not sushi grade. It might have been the supplier cheating them though

You do? I saw Rick Bayless on one of the cooking shows a few days ago in Mexico making ceviche. I think he was using fresh caught red snapper but it wasn't absolutely clear. Do you use fresh or previously frozen like they do for sushimi? It looked really good but i'm spooked by raw fish.
I used fresh, never frozen cod as that's what I could get.

I baked the Croation potato bread today. I gave it a second rise and proofed it in my Baing Basket. It was baked in a porcelain cast iron dutch oven

Oh I know that drove me nuts too! Before you hit post reply button, hit more options button and scroll down, you have he option to not have emails sent. Apparently you get them unless you opt out.

There is a setting to get email notifications when a thread you are following has a new post.

The easiest way to get this back working is to go to the top of the thread you want email notifications and unwatch it. Then click on watch thread and then make sure the bullet is checked that says send email notification
