Any Home Bakers Here?

Ron and All: Been reading more and more on Sourdough Baking.
A gal mixes her dough and saves a portion, places it in a jar in the
refrigerator for next time baking. This is her sour dough starter Can keep 2 weeks in refrigerator. At next
baking time she lets jar of saved dough sit at room temp, adds water and adds to
her bowl filled with flour (flour-salt-water). KNEADS. After knead..
she takes portions of dough (very wet) in oiled and floured tins.
Let's it rise (depending on warmth of house)6 to 8 hours. Then
bakes. Looked very simple and direct. Your thoughts?
Although that will work, The recipes I have use varying amounts of starter. I made a cake using a cup of starter on Sunday. If I wanted to make english muffins the same day, there was still enough in the jar to make it then.

If you only ever make bread, that would work but I make so much more than bread!

today is the day our home cured bacon is going into the smoker. can not wait for it to come out.

also tried marinating some deer and moose steaks for super tonight going to see how they turn out. (one is a spicy orange, the next is a salt and vinegar/water mixture and last one is just a dry rub.)

thanks giving is this weekend for you state guys right? (sorry not sure the day as ours in Canada is in October)
the bacon sounds fun!

I will be very busy with cooking tomorrow and Thursday

You must keep a lot of starter going. I would never have thought to use it for cake. Well, I don't bake cake, but that's beside the point.

@ValerieJ Yes, here in the USA our Thanksgiving is on Thursday. Here in Wisconsin, it is also the middle of our Gun deer hunting season. I wear my blaze orange jacket to do chores all week, lol.
I need to get my kitchen clean so I can start making Thanksgiving pies and holiday treats. It is also Tom & Jerry season (hot alcoholic beverage) and I need to get some homemade Irish Cream in the fridge. Nothing ends the day better than a cut-out cookie with buttercream frosting and a mug of Tom & Jerry. Hot chocolate works well as a non-alcohol substitute.

:gig:gig:gig I literally was just going to ask that you repeat measurements for that drink. I saw the post in my emails last night (I’m focused on alcohol at the moment, and the post is in my liquor folder), but wanted to ask about actual measurements.

@jnicholes how far do you have to drive? Where are you now?

6 hours. Right now, I'm sitting on my couch at home watching Fantasia 2000. I finished watching the original Fantasia, and I have to say, the Night on Bald Mountain segment was SCARY.

Sitting on the couch because I discovered I have a really bad bruise on my leg. Probably came from that accident that happened while hunting on Sunday.

@itsasmallfarm was asking when our Thanksgiving is. I'm in the USA. :). I will be cooking starting today. Pie crust today; don't want to make the pie quite yet. Start the rolls. Tomorrow I'll make those two items, then everything else on Thursday. I made the cream of mushroom soup for green bean casserole on Sunday, froze it till needed, and will make the Fried onions in the air fryer.
