Any Home Bakers Here?

Made my DH's birthday cake today. This year, he wanted Chocolate Stout Cake. It's a King Arthur Flour recipe found HERE. It's wonderfully delicious, very rich, and quite heavy. Freezes nicely too. :)

I must confess that I sort of screwed it up this time. I yanked out my cake pans and didn't realize that they were the 8-inch pans when I should have used 9-inch pans. Took a lot longer to cook. Oh well ... DH will still like it.

Very nice! It’s been a long time since I’ve made a layer cake.
 
I would love to take a cake decorating class. I can do cupcakes but not cakes. I did my sisters wedding cake because she wanted it rustic looking...it was 😁
It's a ganache frosting. I guess I could try to pipe it. Maybe next time, I guess. I like them rustic looking too!

As long as the frosting is laid on nice and thick, who cares what it looks like?
